Acoustic Curtain Fabric

These acoustic curtain fabrics give the look and feel of a soft drape, whilst their technology offers acoustic control.

Factors that influence the acoustic properties of fabric include its density and construction, but without testing, it’s hard to determine how a fabric will perform. Some fabrics may work well, while others might not and many suppliers don’t test their products due to the high cost.

The only way to accurately confirm whether a specific fabric construction is effective, like The Materialised range, is through the NRC test. Our NRC test methods position the acoustic fabric 100mm from the window or wall, with a 100mm air gap, and deliver an outstanding NRC rating between 0.55 and 0.71.

The fabric's durability and ease of maintenance make it a practical choice for high-traffic areas, ensuring long-lasting performance without compromising on design. Its versatility makes it suitable for both

NRC Explained

To quantify Materialised range as commercial acoustic solutions, each product is tested and awarded an NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) rating. The NRC measures the absorption effectiveness of the material and is calculated by averaging how absorptive a material is at four different frequencies.

The Materialised range’s Hush acoustic sheer curtain fabric is tested at 250hz, 500hz, 1000hz, and 2000hz. The average result is then applied to the NRC scale of 0 to 1, where 1 indicates perfect sound absorption and 0 indicates no absorption.

Our Hush acoustic sheer curtain fabric is tested at 250hz, 500hz, 1000hz and 2000hz. Taking the average number, it is then applied to the NRC scale of 0 to 1. A perfectly sound absorptive material achieves a 1, whereas a 0 indicates no absorption.
